How Afton Helps
Parent-Child Relationships
Parent-child relationships can become strained through years of misunderstandings, emotional distance, changing roles, repeated conflict, or periods of no contact. I help parents, adult children, and families better understand painful relational patterns, improve communication, strengthen boundaries, and create healthier ways of connecting.
Family Conflict, Divorce, and Life Transitions
Families often face seasons of change that bring grief, uncertainty, conflict, and emotional overwhelm. Whether you are navigating divorce, blended family dynamics, co-parenting, family reunification, or major life transitions, I help families create healthier communication, stronger boundaries, and more sustainable relationships.
Trauma, Family Systems, and High-Conflict Relationships
My background in child welfare, foster care, judicial systems, and trauma-informed therapy has shaped the way I support individuals, parents, and families navigating high-conflict relationships, painful family patterns, unresolved trauma, and emotionally complex family dynamics.
Additional Advocacy & Media Work
Through my work with the UCAN Foundation (Unscripted Cast Advocacy Network), I advocate for ethical mental health practices, psychological safety, and trauma-informed support within reality television and high-pressure entertainment environments. My advocacy focuses on cast member mental health, crisis support, family impact, identity stress, public scrutiny, relationship dynamics, and the long-term emotional effects of unscripted television. This work continues to shape my approach to trauma, family systems, boundaries, and high-conflict relationships in therapy.
